Dual-Feed extruder

Most versatile extruder on the market
Builder 3D Printers developed its own Dual-Feed extruder for the Builder Extreme range. The extruder is the most adaptable component available today. Why?

– Printing multiple materials with one nozzle – the support structures and actual part can be printed with one extruder. It helps overcome the imprecisions resulting from switching the nozzles during the print.
– Switching to a Mono extruder – by setting the ratio of motors to 50:50, you can print the same material for twice as long, from the two spools instead of one. It hence reduces the risk of running out of filament.
– Color-mixing within one print – unlike in case of the two-nozzle machines, the colorful models can be printed with a gradual color change, not the two colors printed side-by-side.

The design
Regular double extruders have two separate nozzles which has a few disadvantages, such as a oozing of one nozzle while printing with another or overheating the print. The engineers at Builder have designed their own Dual-Feed extruder and have eliminated the second nozzle. Printing two different materials through one nozzle is not a problem, as long as the materials melt at the same temperature. With the help of retraction, the material is able to switch rapidly.

Easy access for maintenance
The extruder is the heart of the 3D printer. Keeping it in good state is very important, so our engineers made it possible to remove the complete print head out of the machine. This makes maintenance of the print head and swapping the nozzles easy. In this video you can see how to remove the print head from the Builder Extreme. No other manufacturer made the access to the print head as easy as Builder did.
